The lights are on; dimmer than normal, flickering on and off. The smell in the air was sticky sweet from candies, salty from peanuts and metallic from something else. There was no one running about gleefully, no rubbing of shoulders, only the wind blowing, caressing your bare skin.
“Come play” says a voice. Then all but the lights of the fun house went off.
“Don’t be shy, come play with me” said the same voice. And the familiar music began to play from inside the house. You walk one step, two steps closer to the fun house.
“That’s right, come closer. We’ll have a whole lot of fun together” it said again with a hint of laughter that sounded almost sinister.
The third step brought you instantly to the door like everything moved around you. Looking up, you see a face of a clown with a big red nose. He awaits you, watching from a broken window.
“It’s time to play” he says. And there at the window a bloody smile is the last thing you see.
